Dr. Anderson was a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and Peter J. Wallace Fiction Award recipient at Yale University. He has studied writing with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Marilynne Robinson at the New York State Writers Institute. His students have won first prizes from The New York Times, as well as national medals from the Scholastic Writing contest. They have gone on to study writing at Yale University, the University of Iowa, and the John Locke Institute at Oxford University. Many of his students have gone on to enroll at Ivy League schools in a variety of majors in the humanities, social sciences, the arts, and STEM.
Dr. Anderson graduated from Yale University, received his Masters in English Literature at Cambridge University and his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley. He has been a faculty member at UC Davis and currently works at UC Berkeley as a consultant in the Bay Area Writers Program of the Department of Education.
Beyond all the prizes and accolades, which fade in importance over time, Dr. Anderson wants to help make writing an important part of students' lives, a resource to help them communicate their ideas, reflect on their experience, and enrich the world of their imagination.
